Molly, a disturbed little girl with a horrific past, believes she is a princess in The Land of Pretty who can speak with dolls. Lindy Wellbrook is a young therapist whose goal is getting clients through recovery in record time. Her approach is straightforward and she doesn’t tolerate self-pity. Just as they get closer to recovery Molly's cruel alternate personality surfaces, a boy named Pen, who becomes hell-bent on sabotaging any progress. This only challenges Lindy to push the therapy even harder. However, life for Lindy takes a drastic turn when the little girl commits suicide and the hard nose therapist is left to uncover what went wrong. Lindy begins to listen to recordings of their past sessions, replaying the conversations, analyzing details to the point of obsession in finding the answer. Slowly, as Lindy nears the truth, her own life unravels and she realizes--that all things Molly were not as they seemed. www.ThatcherCNalley.com

I was intrigued by the cover so I nabbed this book. Excellent choice for the subject matter.
Now, I had mixed feelings about this book. In general, it was a great story. Based on actual events, there's not much to change since those were the events that happened. It was a very moving and touching story. It's heart warming to see the obstacles and challenges people go through before they end up changing peoples lives and in a big way. Very moving.
Moving on to the part where I'm conflicted. Was the writing. There was missing words, too many words, and formatting issues that kept bringing me out of the story. It seemed to lack in creative word choice when I came across several repeated sentences. It also seemed to have skipped a professional editor. I think if it had been professionally looked at, a lot of those simple fixes could have been taken care of.
Overall, I give this story three and a half stars.

Thatcher Nalley creates vivid characters living in a real, imperfect world, facing real world problems. Through these characters we get to experience the pain life can bring as well as the inspiration and dedication that comes from caring. A touching and inspiring book.
This is a one of a kind story surrounding a little girl called Molly and her therapist. The story is very chilling and after young Molly commits suicide, the devastated therapist tries to find out what really happened. Very well written storyline full of suspense and which can be haunting at times. I was intrigued by its multi-dimensional characters which convey the lessons of this story in a powerful way. Highly recommended.
This book had me hooked from Day 1. Definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to know more. Highly recommended. There aren't enough books about psychological disorders and how they affect day to day life.
A good read with an interesting story. Good use of building anticipation to keep the reader going, and surprises at the end that weren't easy to see. Both psychologically exciting but also a sad tale, filled with not the supernatural but the real evil that we have plenty of in this world. Definitely worth reading.
I loved this read. Yet another psychological thriller from Nalley. It delved into the world of people with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Molly was in her 30s but was still a child in her mind due to the traumatic events she had gone through in life. She sought therapy from Lindy who had never encountered a patient with DID before. Feeling that she could help Molly, she took her on and learned that she was dealing with Molly and her other personality "Pen" after the fact. Several months later, Molly commits suicide and Lindy is left to deal with whether or not she was the cause of her patient's death. The "twist" was underwhelming for me but overall still a great read. I look forward to reading more of Nalley's work.
The book had a few typos that made it hard to understand, otherwise it was pretty interesting, Except I honestly hated the main character. For a therapist, she was the stupidest therapist when it came to her own life. But I guess it makes sense since she just got out of college and was in that "know-it-all" type state. But, I still think that she had no idea what she was doing. It was almost like she had taken a few classes and said, "I think I've got this I don't need anymore. Also, as a person who has a bipolar grandmother, an autistic sister, and another sister with anxiety, there is NO WAY you can just cure ANYONE with psychological issues with a few sessions. In my uneducated opinion, it takes much more time than that. What made me hate her the most was how she treated people she didn't understand like crap which makes her the worst candidate for a therapist.

If it weren't for that, I would have liked it a lot more.
This is one of those super unique books. It has a story line that will haunt you forever.

We find out right away that the troubled and abused little girl, Molly, committed suicide. Although that sounds like the story would be over before it started, that definitely wasn't the case.

We follow the therapist Lindy as she tries to come to terms with her *failure*. Where did she go wrong as a therapist? Was there anything that she could have done differently?

Overall it is a solid five stars! The pace was perfect and I loved the ending.
