Once the Birnbaum siddur was the standard siddur for most Orthodox congregations. I remember it well from my childhood. I have a great affection for its ' clean and clear' look. There is a beauty in just seeing the Hebrew letters. I on occasion still davven with the Birnbaum synagogue. I have never thought of it this way but I suppose it adds a dimension in feeling , a kind of memory of past prayers, the worlds of my childhood.
It is simply a siddur I love.
This is not a Birmbaum Prayer Book, This is a Silverman Prayer Book. Not what I ordered!!!
As yet I have not started reading this book. It will be educational for me. It weighs more than me, almost.
Very pleased with the condition of this daily Siddur.
Book n good condition
The Kessinger reprint of "Daily Prayer Book" by Birnbaum has high quality paper, sturdy binding and covers with a clear dark print. However, there is one major problem. This is a Hebrew book that should be printed to read from the right cover to the left cover (the reverse of English). Kessinger printed the book to read from left cover to right as an English book. This makes the book unusable as a Hebrew prayer book. I had to return the purchase. I wrote to Kessinger but have not received a reply.
Who ever re-published this book apparently did not realize that Hebrew book open the opposite of English books. They should of looked at the old publisher's way of making the book, very insulting!!
